Pui Ying Van Horne Chinese School was formerly known as Wen Han ChineseSchool. Principal Andrew Mak founded the school in 1983.In 2007, Van Horne Chinese School joined the family of PuiYing Christian Services Society, and became Pui Ying Van Horne ChineseSchool. After years of the hard work by Principal Mak, the school has built up a good reputation.  It has gained the support of parents, students and the staff of Van Horne Elementary School. Principal Mak continued to remain as the Principal until he passed away in 2009.

The school uses textbooks that are designed for non-Chinese speaking students. They are designed to suit the needs of local students. The school offers both Cantonese and Mandarin classes, from kindergarten to Grade 6 levels. To encourage students to speak the language and to enhance oral training, teachers use activity-based and interactive teaching methods in class.  Students also participate in activities organized by community organizations that are related to the learning or practice of Chinese language, so as to develop confidence in the usage of the language.
